The world’s record for the longest sleep deprivation period is 11 days!

Le record du monde de privation du sommeil est de 11 jours !

Randy Gardner is the record holder of the longest scientifically documented time a person spent without sleep and without the use of stimulants. In 1964, Gardner, a 17 years old boy and a high school student in San Diego, California, remained awake for 264.4 hours (11 days and 24 minutes).

During the experiment, the doctors who have watched him noticed several cognitive and behavioral changes, concentration and short term memory problems, paranoia and hallucinations.

But the amazing thing is that in the 11th day of the experiment, Gardner was in an excellent health apart from fatigue, he was even able to hold a press conference.
